The Hugh Paton
The Hugh Paton is played in November and is available to all curling members.
Teams are drawn by the Match Committee and are grouped in sections as appropriate to the number of entries. A round robin is played in each section to declare a section winner. The section winners then engage in a straight knockout to decide the winner of the Hugh Paton Trophy.
The Douglas Brown Trophy
This is the Club Championship. It is played in four rounds throughout the season. The competition is made up of skip-selected teams, the players on each team being chosen without regard to club rating. One good way to introduce you to this competition is to sign up as a spare.
The Baillie
The Baillie is a Short Competition played in January or February and is open to all members.
President John Baillie created a new trophy to encourage curling with granites and to promote the Club’s performance in competitions outside the Canadian Branch. The Baillie was first played in 1915, with two sets of granites, while all other competitions continued to be played with irons.
The Match Committee will select the required number of skips as indicated by the size of the entry list. Each section will play a round robin and the winners of this will engage in a straight knockout to establish the Trophy winner.

The Chicken League
Everyone is eligible to play. Played on Monday nights, the entry list is divided into an appropriate number of teams. Each team plays each other at least once during the season. Curlers rotate positions each week, so even if you are a complete beginner, you will play lead, second, third, and skip in rotation – gaining invaluable experience about how the game is played. Coaching is often provided.
At the end of the season, the team with the most points is the winner of the Oborne “Old Rooster” Trophy. The committee will then determine the play-off format, which determines the winner of the Blacklock Trophy.

The atmosphere is relaxed, the competition is surprisingly good, and the social aspect is very convivial.
